After 20 years in the same location, The Woodlands United Methodist Church was literally about to bust at the seams! Lack of meeting rooms and parking spaces led to the purchase of 22 acres in The Woodlands Town Center. The new 160,000 sf campus includes a 2,500-seat, two-level sanctuary; a 300-seat chapel; mini chapel; fellowship hall; full-service kitchen; gymnasium; Sunday School facilities; church offices; bookstore; 55,000 sf full-time educational facility; and parking for 1,100 cars. TAS' scope of work included 453 piers; 117,600 sf of slab on grade; 47,570 sf of mezzanine space; and 23,900 sf of sidewalks. The construction of the multi-tiered sanctuary mezzanine required extensive forming and a unique approach from the team. TAS' equipment pumped nearly all of the 439 cubic yards of concrete needed through one window opening. |
